Allow the install
Android asks once to allow installs from your browser. Tap Settings, turn it on, then go back and tap Install.
Open and sign in
Sign in with your email. If your account includes sync, supported settings, favorites, history, and source configuration can follow you across devices.

TVLok is a player. No channels or playlists are included. Your TVLok plan’s features apply.

New in 1.0.190 TV

Stalker portals: when one portal address answers with access refused (403), sign-in now tries the other addresses the portal can be reached at, including a portal that moved to a new host. When a portal turns this box away, TVLok now reports that refusal, not a server error.
Stalker portals: when a portal ends your session (it answers Unauthorized request), TVLok signs in again once and retries. Screens that ask at the same time share that one sign-in.
Auto-start on boot: Android 10 and newer need Display over other apps before an app can open itself when the TV is switched on. Settings > General > Auto-start on boot now shows whether Display over other apps is on, with Open settings or Allow. TVLok only asks when you turn Auto-start on boot on.
Guide: the guide is now read once when TVLok starts. Before, every playlist's guide could be read a second time right after. Your refresh interval is unchanged.
Notifications: Notifications in the menu now opens a panel that reads No notifications right now when there is nothing to show. Before, nothing happened.
Clock: every time on the TV, such as the player clock, the channel schedule, timers, recordings and Search, now follows Settings > Live TV & Guide > Time format. Until you choose a format in TVLok, it follows the 12 or 24 hour clock set in the TV's own settings.
Playback: a channel whose sound arrives with timestamps that stand still, such as ABC East on the Google TV Streamer, no longer stutters, freezes the picture or drops frames. Other channels are not touched.
DVR: Back from the DVR now opens the menu with the DVR still on show, not the screen TVLok started on. Back from Search opened from the menu also returns to the menu.
DVR: Watch from beginning on a recording that was cut into parts now starts at the first part. If the first part cannot start, the latest part plays from the beginning.
Live TV: a channel number typed while the guide list is on screen now tunes the channel the list shows for that number. With Count from 1 in each category, the number is the channel's place in the list. The Show channel numbers text now says what the app does.
Live TV: OK on a guide row now counts as switching to that channel, so after A, B, C by OK, hold Back goes to B.
Guide: in a custom group that mixes playlists, each playlist's own programmes show as soon as they are read, and rows already on screen are never cut back.
Guide: category names now show whole in the Live TV side panel and in the Movies and Shows drop-down, on two lines when needed.
Sports: Back from Watch in Live TV returns to Sports with the same game still playing in the panel.
Sports: a replay channel that was still showing an earlier game at kickoff is now listed as a possible channel. The replay start follows the panel's time zone.
Sports: when you have turned off every league of a sport, such as all soccer, a league added later starts off.

After you install

Open TVLok and sign in. On a TV, it shows a short code; enter it at tvlok.com/activate from your phone and the TV signs in on its own.

Use the same TVLok account across supported devices. The announced Annual launch price is $19.99/year; active-device limits and sync features depend on your plan or current beta entitlement.

If something gets in the way

Downloader says the code is not found

Downloader codes need the current Downloader app. Update it from the Appstore, or type tvlok.com/download in its address bar instead.

“Install blocked” or “For your security”

Your TV or phone blocks installs from new sources until you allow it once. Step 2 shows the exact setting for your device.

Downloader goes back after I choose Install

If you choose Install and Downloader returns to its Install, Cancel and Delete screen, or the install page closes with no message, Android refused the install and did not say why. The usual cause is another copy of TVLok already on the TV that this one cannot replace, such as the phone version. A TV that is nearly out of space can do the same. If TVLok was already working on this TV, uninstalling can remove things saved only on the TV, such as local recordings, so contact support first if that matters.

On Fire TV, open Settings, then Applications, then Manage Installed Applications. On Android TV, open Settings, then Apps, then See all apps.
Choose TVLok, then Uninstall. Remove any TVLok you find there, because it may be the phone version. If TVLok is not in the list, go to the next step.
If the TV is nearly full, free some space first by removing apps you no longer use. On Fire TV, Settings, My Fire TV, About, Storage shows what is left.
Enter the Downloader code 3587280 again and choose Install.

If it still goes back, choose Delete on the Downloader screen to remove the downloaded file, then enter the code again.

“App not installed”

Android refused the install. Check that you downloaded the right file: the Downloader code and the TV button are for Fire TV and Android TV, and phones and tablets use the phone download. If another copy of TVLok is already on the device and this file cannot replace it, remove that copy first. On Fire TV, open Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications, choose TVLok, then Uninstall. On Android TV, open Settings, Apps, See all apps, choose TVLok, then Uninstall. Then install again. “Downloader goes back after I choose Install” above has every step. A device that is nearly out of space can also refuse the install. If TVLok was already working and may hold recordings saved only on the device, contact support before uninstalling.

The file will not open on my phone

Open Files, go to Downloads, and tap the TVLok APK. If it still fails, check that the phone runs Android 7.0 or later.

Windows says the app is unrecognized

That is SmartScreen reputation, not a virus warning. Choose More info, then Run anyway, only for the file you downloaded from tvlok.com.

I want the previous TV version

1.0.189 is available from the “Previous (TV)” link on the Fire TV and Android TV tabs. Android may refuse to install an older build over a newer one. If it does, uninstall TVLok first (on Fire TV: Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications; on Android TV: Settings, Apps, See all apps) and install the older file. Anything saved only on the device, such as local recordings, is removed with it, so contact support first if that matters.

Public beta

Core playback, profiles, and account features are available now. TVLok remains in active public beta, so beta features may change as reliability improves. TVLok is player software only; users provide their own lawful sources and content.

Report a problem

Installation time varies by device, connection, and security prompts. Sign in with the same TVLok account on Android phones, tablets, Android TV, Fire TV, or Windows 10/11 x64. Sync features depend on your account access and device limits. TVLok is player software and does not include channels, media, playlists, subscriptions, or provider access. Add only sources you are legally authorized to use. A Google Play Store listing is planned; the direct TV APK above is the current TV release.
